Being a Fit Mom

P1020062As a mother of four (including twins) I realized very early on that in order to keep up with these little people I was going to have to get serious about regular exercise.  You see, there were a number of things that I wanted out of motherhood:

  • I wanted to hop on a bike and go riding with my kids until they had to stop – not me.
  • I wanted to jump on that RipStick and glide around the driveway with them.
  • I wanted to be out in the waves surfing with my kids instead of watching them from the beach.
  • I wanted to wear that bikini instead of hiding in a bathing suit like the one my mother wore.
  • I wanted to be on the mat at jujitsu class throwing and being thrown by my teenage sons and be able to laugh with them about it.
  • I wanted to go out and shoot baskets or bump the volleyball with my budding athletes.
  • I wanted to jump in and do that double dutch jumprope thing. (Still working on this one with the help of my daughter)
  • Most of all, I wanted to be an active part of my active family.
